Dr. Shafie is a well-known scientist, opinion leader and an entrepreneur in health care and bio-technology. He has established a health care and technology related company. As its Managing Director, he created a global network of clinicians and medical equipment companies as a resource for U.S. enterprises when their corporate expansion and/or investments take them overseas.
Dr. Shafie has been involved in a number of health care related ventures. A dentist by training, he sub-specialized in Oral Implantology.

Dr. Shafie formed the American Institute of Implant Dentistry (AIID), a not-for-profit postdoctoral teaching institution in Washington, DC, with the mission of expanding the knowledge and expertise of implantology around the globe. Over the last decade, AIID has become the world’s most comprehensive educational content providers in the field of Implantology and Tissue Engineering.

In 2002, Dr. Shafie joined the Washington Hospital Center (part of the Medstar Health System), where he created an Implant and Tissue Engineering Clinic. Currently he is the director of postdoctoral implant training at Washington Hospital Center’s department of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr. Shafie’s success and reputation in the health care field enabled him to turn his attention to cancer research. More as a labor of love than for any other reason, he founded the Melody Shafie Foundation for Neuroblastoma (MSFN), dedicated to finding new treatment modalities for this rare form of childhood cancer, as well as educating pediatricians about diagnostic and treatment methods for this deadly disease. MSFN’s Advisory Board includes some of the most prominent cancer researchers in the world.

In July of 2007, Dr. Shafie released a text book on Implantology. This text book has become a best seller title and been translated into different languages. He lectures frequently in the United States and overseas as a key opinion leader in the field of implant dentistry. Dr. Shafie currently resides in Washington, D.C with his family.
